Journeyman Electrician - MA

Springfield, Massachusetts, United States Full-time

GENERAL:  This position provides electrical services for our stores, properties, and construction department. Must be willing to travel as needed.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Installs electrical wiring and instrumentation systems to support stores, construction, and other owned properties as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and correct electrical problems in electrical equipment & lighting systems.
  • When assigned, work with outside electrical contractors to ensure and inspect work quality. Work with outside vendors to specify new equipment requirements.
  • Performs installation, removal and repair of a wide range of electrical equipment such as power circuits, lighting systems switchgear, transformers, emergency management systems and communication equipment.
  • Diagnoses equipment failures and makes necessary repairs while minimizing downtime.
  • Directs work and instructs others as required.
  • Maintains and install Energy Management Systems.
  • Completes routine paperwork as needed, follows lockout/tag out safety procedures and complies with all safety regulations. Attends safety meetings and follows all company safety rules.
  • Must be available for emergency calls including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Current Massachusetts Journeyman Electrical License.
  • Experience in the electrical field.
  • Valid driver’s license to operate company vehicle.
  • Must possess skills to use all necessary tools both manual and power.
  • Must be able to read and interpret electrical and related blue prints as well as work from drawings, verbal instructions and sketches.
  • Must have the ability to prepare, format, proof read and edit documents which are concise and professional.
  • Requires high degree of self confidence and maturity to make decisions required in day-to day activities.
  • Ability to problem solve with minimal direction.
  • Essential computer skills as well as ability to utilize maintenance management software to generate work orders.

  • Detailed oriented; strong organizational skills.
  • Team player, who is flexible, accepts changing assignments and accountabilities; should display excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
